Hello everyone,

I’ve started a blog to share my experiences in the technical world, both from my work as an MSP and my experiments at home with my lab.

I’ve been in the IT industry since my early teens, beginning as a dispatcher guiding users through changing backup tapes, and progressing to a 3rd line technician, dealing with automations and Power BI.

Throughout my career, I’ve encountered numerous situations that have left me both horrified and shocked by some of the practices within the IT world.

In my first 1st line role at the NHS, we faced a peculiar issue where an entire floor lost internet access every night at the same time. The technical team observed that the switch would suddenly drop out. After days of investigation, a technician was stationed in the comms room to monitor the switch physically.

The mystery was solved when it was discovered that a cleaner, who had access to the comms room with a master key card, was unplugging the power sockets despite the ‘do not touch’ signs. This incident inspired us to install lockable power outlets in all comms rooms.

I’ve been meaning to start this blog to document and share these experiences with others who might find them interesting.

Feel free to join me on this journey!
